Winter Coat Drive - December 12, 2024

The Teacher Advisors at the Occupational Center organized a Winter Coat Giveaway for both morning and evening programs. Students were provided with gently used coats and jackets, allowing them to enjoy comfort and warmth during the current season.

Nutrition and Wellness Student Workshop @ Eastside Learning Center - December 6, 2024

Ms. Ochoa presented students at Eastside with a workshop on nutrition. Students learned about foods that strengthen the immune system, habits that improve health, and five foods to add to daily nutrition.

Fall Pathway Presentations - December 3 & 6, 2024

ELAOC's counseling staff conducts the fall Pathway Presentation for ESL, ABE, and ASE students at the ELAOC and PUENTE Learning Center campuses to provide essential information for planning their educational and career futures. ESL Professional Learning Community (PLC) Collaborative - November 14, 2024

This year's Professional Learning Community (PLC) for the ESL Department focuses on creating actionable plans to improve student learning outcomes. The goal is to strategically increase the percentage of CASAS paired scores, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to excel. This initiative will involve collaborative discussions and data-driven approaches, allowing the identification of effective strategies and best practices for fostering student success in their language acquisition.

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health conducted a workshop for students at Eastside Learning Center. The session aimed to enhance students' understanding of stress indicators and emotional well-being and provide effective stress management techniques.

Let's Talk Dodgers Friday - October 25, 2024

The ELAOC Campus ESL program held a "Let's Talk Friday" event focused on the Dodgers. Classes featured mixer activities, sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and concluded with traditional stadium foods like hot dogs, Cracker Jacks, and nachos!
