X-Ray Technician / Interest List

Interest List: 
New students interested in the X-ray Technician class beginning in August 2027 and 2028 must complete an online form to be added to the interest list.
Course Description:
This course fulfills the California Department of Public Health-Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB) requirements for a Limited Permit X-ray Technician. The curriculum covers essential areas, including digital radiography, chest, extremities, skull, and torso-skeletal imaging.

 

Curriculum & Instruction:

The program blends comprehensive didactic instruction with hands-on clinical training:

  • Foundational Skills: Orientation, radiation safety, medical ethics, terminology, and professional communication.
  • Technical Expertise: Anatomy and physiology, pathology, image receptor systems, radiographic positioning, and  the principles of exposure and image quality.
  • Clinical Experience: Students complete supervised clinical rotations in healthcare facilities, developing the skills to perform as safe and competent professionals.

 

Career Outcomes:

Graduates are prepared to sit for the state examination. Upon passing, they are authorized to work as Limited Permit X-ray Technicians under the direction of a supervising licentiate. All coursework is aligned with the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.

 

Schedule & Format:

All instruction and clinical training take place during daytime hours. Please note that evening, weekend, and remote/distance learning options are not currently available.
